VETERAN'S STORY
Richard Alan Porter
Richard Porter - Cold War MP

At the age of 14 my father, Richard Alan Porter, was enrolled in the Army by his parents in 1952. He stayed for 7 years serving in Germany and eventually working at a desk typing 52 words per minute (I can't even type that fast on one of the keyboards that are easy to type on). My dad did not see combat and I'm thankful for that. During the beginning of his military stay he became military police. There is not much that I know about my dad's military life as he never spoke about it this information is what I was able to find from his file. I love him dearly and wish he was still with me, I think he would like this it's a wonderful idea to honor our veterans in this way.

Thank you
